Since the redevelopment of London bridge station and the moving of the taxi ran
enter code here
k to tooley st there has been an ongoing problem with taxis waiting for a place in the rank by stacking up behind the junction and people familiar with the area will know this is both a red route and a cycle lane.
I occasionally see the police moving the taxis on but have also seen the police drive straight past it and do nothing.
I'm not opposed to them making their living and if this didn't cause problems I'd not really care but in the past few months I've seen a cyclist knocked off at that junction, nearly been knocked off twice myself before today and then was almost done again today by a taxi u turning in front of me. I've also had numerous arguments when politely trying to explain that it's dangerous for them to park like this.
The problem is that as it's a busy road any traffic gets pushed over and consequently the cycle lane in the opposite direction (towards tower bridge) gets regularly encroached upon upon buses and lorries, not really at any fault of theirs.
I spoke to a police today and he said he reports the problem regularly to both his superiors and tfl and is himself amazed that nothing has been done about it in all this time and his suggestion was that if lots of people tweeted tfl about it then it might get things moving.
I'm not a member of twitter but I'm gonna sign up so I can do this and it would be good if other people could to.
Thanks for reading. Hopefully I put this post in the right place.
