  • Most nights we have on USB charge some combination of:

    • Phone
    • Girlfriend's phone
    • Kindle
    • iPad
    • Nexus 7
    • GoPro
    • MP3 player

It's already a mess of cables.

What I want are higher capacity batteries that last longer (get charged less frequently) and that I can swap out for spares. What I want are batteries that charge faster and can discharge faster (higher voltage) so that the lights are bright.

That exists today, they're called CR123 batteries. They charge fast, hold a ton of charge, and can power really bright lights (my torch uses one and goes to 500 lumens).

So yeah... USB charge can >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I liked the Moon for brightness and cheapness, but when I can afford to I'll go back to Exposure for battery support + brightness.

I prefer keeping a wall charger with an extra set of AA batteries on the ready, then change batteries before I ride. Relying on USB charging requires the self discipline to put my lights on recharge when I return from a ride. Usually when I get back home I'm dying for a snack/piss/shower/dry clothes/beer/etc. ... I know my limitations.

Limits my choice of lights though...
