The cup is paper, from coffee place near office.
I had the same problem than you with smelly plastic coffee cup and had to get rid of it. I recently bought something better, apparently "limited edition" from a company called "keep cup". The body of the cup is made of glass, with a protecting ring. The lid is plastic but no smell so far (had it for about 2 month now and I use it once a day, twice sometimes depending on routine.

That cup looks like one of those BYO silicone jobs; never got on with them and had to return because the odour of plastic, even after 6 months, was as fresh as the day I got 'em. Along with permanent distorted coffee smell.
