  • Have been spending far too much time thinking about frame swap to a
Straggler. Had almost turned myself off the idea before seeing that...

  • after seeing psee latest thread... i may have sent matt an email enquiring the cost of swapping my rear end to disc and more clearance (oo-err)

  • What frame had you been thinking of swapping?

  • Cross Check.

Like the idea of discs, don't really need them, probably won't do anything about it this year...

  • Rear triangle need to be stiffer, not just a question of adding extra material.

I says likely not to be cheap.

On the other hand, it mean you can get the new SRAM Rival Disc.

  • Is that a CX crankset?

  • It's the 46-36t CX specific version. I suspect the only difference is the chainring size though.

  • New rear triangle would be the plan

  • Aha. Im looking at getting a cross check, my next question was gonna be what size is yours :)

You not happy with cantis or mini vs then? Mini vs are so good on my Pompino that I don't really see the need for discs.

  • This, easy to set up mini v to work great but then again, nothing better than full hydro sram.

  • Straggler is adorable

  • Love this. Not sure if re.

  • New Rival group is insanely tempting. SRAM shifters are a joy to hold. Perfect fit.

  • 56, it's not the stopping power, running TRP CX9 with compressionless housing. Brakes feel great and with the right pads stop great 98% of the time. Going to stick a pair of Avid Ultimate V brakes on there soon with appropriate levers to fix the mudguard "issues" I've had

Benefit of the Straggler would be rotors are cheaper to replace than rims, 650b + mudguards allows for massive tyres while still keeping my ass dry, full housing for the brakes but still being able to run down tube shifters...

Saying that, it's not really a killer reason to swap, I should just get round to replacing these rims, get off the internet and carry on having a great time riding the Cross Check!

  • My friend Frans developed this modern 650B randonneur bike, the Bob Jackson Special. His website is now... functional

    http://bobjacksonspecial.com/Eng%20index.html

  • @regal, do you know if it's for back relief?

No idea if it's for a specific issue or if that's just how he's most comfortable for long periods in the saddle.

  • I was really liking this build and then I saw the spacers.

  • Can I post my own bike here since it's not porn, I think I saw people posting their bikes here... I'll remove it if not allowed... Every time I put new bar tape, I feel renewed love for my bike...

  • That mirror looks perfectly placed for a quick mid-ride beard trim

  • That is super functional, especially if you spend most of you time riding up and down the regents canal portaging things whilst drink coffee and eating crossaints.

  • That cup looks like one of those BYO silicone jobs; never got on with them and had to return because the odour of plastic, even after 6 months, was as fresh as the day I got 'em. Along with permanent distorted coffee smell.

  • Straggler on previous page is proper cool.

  • New Rival group is insanely tempting. SRAM shifters are a joy to hold. Perfect fit.

This. 105 so cheap but SRAM nicer to use
