The specific designs are optimised for the surrounding shape of the metal surfaces - by which I mean the head shape/height is designed so as not to allow a purchase on any exposed outer surface (which would defeat the security). In all likelihood the bolts will be perfectly fine for both stems but it might be worth checking with A22.

This was my concern and my thoughts exactly. I shall continue to poke A22 for confirmation.

Unless, @noiser, you're talking about first hand experience of A22 bolts and not generic (non-security) Thomson bolts?

Does anyone know if Atomic22's Thomson face-plate bolts are interchangeable between the X2 and the X4 stems? I assume they would be as Thomson's official replacement bolts are for both X2/X4, however I've yet to have an answer from Atomic22.
