I want to get some of these too but, as you say, it's a question what to buy. Do I buy the whole kit in the first instance (a bit too much cash for now so it'd be a bit in the future) or do I just start off with a set of Guard Dogs.

Use a bit of rag or anything between the tire and the down tube rotate the wheel untill you get the right chain tension then relax and tighten your wheel nuts / Atomic locking wheel nuts.
Regarding the mole plier attack it looks like the inner with the thread and the housing are separate so i would spin freely but it also seems to have a wedge that drops into the dropouts so you can't even turn that when tight ??

Just curious if anyone has had any response from Patrick in the last couple of weeks?
We were in the middle of an order, figuring out the correct threads and such, and then he just went silent. No reply for almost 3 weeks. I hope he is ok. -

so i'm sat here with my hyper torque key (tribe)...
http://i.imgur.com/gCoFBTE.jpganyway, can you get enough torque for a rear track wheel with a 6mm short spanner?
EDIT: the fucking key is 6.00001mm it's too big for 3 different spanners.
Here are the two keys that secure all my components, and the spanner I used to secure them, I used a 30cm one too for the higher torque requirements like the cranks, they can clearly be seen with the grooves for the spring loaded ball in the torque wrench

Is anyone using their Tribe components?

Now hoping to kit out 2 bikes with atomic22 bits.
Fixie skid bike - front wheel, stem cap, stem face plate, seat post and saddle rail bolts
Commuto x bike - both wheels, stem cap, stem face plate, seat post and saddle rail bolts
My NY fahg lock can't get round the wheel, mudguard and frame of the commuto x, hence needing to secure both wheels.
Hoping atomic22 can do the above purchase as a bundle.

really well run outfit, great products. -

Has anyone used their track nuts on a rear wheel, and do they hold the wheel in place?

areas wheel?

Customer service has been great and most of the bolts are working very well. There have been teething problems getting appropriate torque on the rear wheel track nuts but this is due to having titanium track ends and that my torque wrench only goes to 20Nm.
The ratchet spanner supplied is a little too short to deliver appropriate torque so Patrick and I are in discussion as to what to use instead. Long term I think a larger range torque wrench for home use and a longer ratchet spanner to be carried on the road.
So despite the little hitch I am very impressed with the products and the service. They have given guidance as to how to lower the cost of securing two bikes, been very responsive to all questions (even when they were abroad on holiday).
Would recommend to anyone who wishes to secure their bikes for public locking up.

With track I use the atomic bolts on the front wheel only and lock the mini D around the rear. Along with their seat post clamp and topcap bolt (and a miniD) you've only got your crankset unprotected, but locking drive side to pillar/ post that's taken care of.
Atomic is awesome.

I would rather have both wheels secured by the same tool - means I have to carry less while riding.

put lock around rear wheel and frame?

Missing the point, I want to use the same device to tighten wheels up. So if I have atomic 22 on front wheel I want it on the rear. All is working now anyway.

Had a bit of a disaster yesterday, was out for a ride and my lezyne seatpack fell off the bike and I could not find it when I retraced my steps.
Inside were the Atomic 22 locking keys for various bolts on my bike, which means I can't currently get my wheels off, change saddle (new one arrived today) etc etc. I emailed them last night and today they offered to make new keys and deliver them in person tomorrow.
Thankfully I have other bikes that can be used so did not take the up, but was bowled over at their desire to help me out. Amazing customer service.

Forgot to say, I chatted to the A22 folks at Bespoked and they were lovely (and demonstrated their very clever wheel axle nuts). One of my favourite products and favourite companies.

Does anyone know if Atomic22's Thomson face-plate bolts are interchangeable between the X2 and the X4 stems? I assume they would be as Thomson's official replacement bolts are for both X2/X4, however I've yet to have an answer from Atomic22.

Very hard to imagine they wouldn't be.
So long as the bolts are similar length and same diameter, they'd fit perfectly.

• #122
That's what I'm hoping as I'm occasionally switching stems but I'd like to know for sure before I invest in a set up.
Also, is their website unusably slow for everybody else at the moment?

i've changed bolts between 2 4, so by inference you can.

The specific designs are optimised for the surrounding shape of the metal surfaces - by which I mean the head shape/height is designed so as not to allow a purchase on any exposed outer surface (which would defeat the security). In all likelihood the bolts will be perfectly fine for both stems but it might be worth checking with A22.

This was my concern and my thoughts exactly. I shall continue to poke A22 for confirmation.

Unless, @noiser, you're talking about first hand experience of A22 bolts and not generic (non-security) Thomson bolts?
I've been dealing with Patrick over email for the past few weeks and got a very considered reply to my post here, including reiterating an invitation he'd made to come to his workshop to see the parts and test the solution.
He's clearly very confident in the system, and has spent a lot of time developing and refining it - looks like the real deal.
Now to work out what to protect...
