  • Horror: Posession
Movie where nothing happens but it's great: Once upon a time in Anatolia
Comedy: The original Police Squad series or for a darker humour Four Shades of Brown
    Sci-Fi: The Skin I'm In
Drama: Mud / You, the living

Off the top of my head :)

  • Got a spare ticket for sale for The Royal Tenenbaums at Somerset House next Sunday, face value at £19. Can send the ticket over straight away (PDF).

    Cheeeeers

  • GOTG - good, but not remotely as good as it's been made out to be.

really enjoyed that - had no preconceptions whatsover so that maybe helped - thought Chris Pratt was ace

  • don't get me wrong, it was a ripping space yarn, i just made the mistake of reading the reviews on RT before hand which made it out to be citizen kane set in space. it wasn't.

fat, unhealthy CP is still miles better in P&R.

  • Snowpiercer - different idea and a decent enough movie. Tilda Swinton gives a good performance as does chris evans.

  • I thought it was fantastic. nice that it got a proper release and not the harvey 'snippybollocks' weinstein PG version. Fuck that guy

  • Boyhood - So good, so realistic.

Simple idea and story, but there's something what keeps you really entertained for those 3 hours...

    Amazing!

  • Just watched "Get on up"

    Thoroughly enjoyed it.

The main man, Chadwick Boseman, did the job quite well.

  • Cracking soundtrack.

  • watched Odd Thomas on a plane journey...probably shouldn't have
crime fighting medium out to save a town from a massacre: any time I see a film with a lead character providing narration, I am reminded of Adaptation
"and God help you if you use voice-over in your work, my friends. God help you. That's flaccid, sloppy writing. Any idiot can write a voice-over narration to explain the thoughts of a character "

  • yeah that was a steaming pile of shit. it would have been forgivable if it was a tribute to straight-to-video low rent teen horrors starring people called 'corey' and 'stephanie'. sadly i don't think it was.

  • Guardians was damn good. Never expected to like it so much. A really positive surprise!

PS. Tried to quote EB, but failed.

  • Snowpiercer - different idea and a decent enough movie. Tilda Swinton gives a good performance as does chris evans.

    She's hilarious, loved that film.

  • the 'food' scene made me hork into my jelly and icecream a bit. urhhrhrhh...

  • Just how long was that damn thing though? Must have been a few miles right?

  • TWSS etc

  • i just made the mistake of reading the reviews on RT before hand which made it out to be citizen kane set in space.

What the fuck... who said that? as they clearly hadn't seen the film or even any trailers.

  • GOTG was mostly excellent. Although can't help but feel the Parks and Rec Chris Pratt would have made it funnier/better. Maybe that was it, just a little too polished. Rough it up a bit. Or something.

Overall I'm very glad they're making decent space adventure style films again. It brought some much needed childish wonder back into my Sunday afternoon

  • Dallas Buyers Club: damn good...as much as I want to hate Matthew McConaughey and his continuousunpunctuatedmonotonaldrawlâ„¢ he is a damn fine actor, and owns his recent roles (both this one as Ron and of course Rust Cohle).

  • I loved Boyhood, then watched Before Sunrise which I'd never seen before and enjoyed that as well. I'm quite impressed that those films are so well known, as they're not really typical Hollywood fare, they made me think more of Andreas Dresen's films like Halt auf freier Strecke (Stopped on Track in English) which is probably still the best film I've seen.

  • Just watched Before Sunset, amazing as well. Hawke and Delpy and Linklater, hats off to you all. Fantastic film-making. That must be the best and least cringeworthy 'let me play you a song' moment in any film, empties an entire sewage works on Garden State and 'this song will change your life', and Delpy wrote it herself!

I remembered my complaint about the first film though. Why the fuck don't they go to the theatre!? The play sounds amazing, and those guys are brilliant. "Remember, I'm the cow...bye!"

  • I remember seeing Sunset at the cinema with a mate, both of us single at the time. We both came out thinking, "shit, can't believe I didn't go take a girl to see that". Anyone seen Midnight? I'm kinda afraid it won't live up to the first two.

  • The book isn't bad actually.

  • the latest xmans film. IT DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE! none. the plot is holier than then popes cheese cabinet.
