And the rise and rise of the career politician also means that increasingly few of the current lot on either side of the house has any meaningful experience of work outside 'the Westminster bubble' or of the real world in general. Don't even start with the MEPs. As far as I can see, their allowance structure doesn't even have the thinly-veiled pretence of of the parliamentary expenses system.
