  • it's personal I know but after trying a lot of saddles it's pretty easy to feel the saddle working or not. i'm not saying that a 70mile ride wouldn't be good but if you do a lets say 5km ride and the saddle is awful then a slight shift of angle won't help.

it's all up to you i know and with experience comes knowledge and understanding.

the problem is mostly whether the saddle is of correct width and whether it disturbs your blood flow in the perineum. some of us like more and some like less padding, but if you loose feel in the leg then the saddle is giving pressure in a place it shouldn't.

go measure your sit bones in a local specialized dealer and take a few test saddles with you. and prepare to spend proper money on your saddle and you'll thank yourself when you're older with no prostate problems due to bad saddle choice.

  • Thanks for the advice, yeah your last paragraph is my reasoning for wanting to get it right sooner rather than later. Will have a search for my local spesh dealer to find out, I have a feeling I'm mid 14x just based on what works and what doesn't.

And miro, thanks for your help too, the ones that have come close, particularly the romin and Arione, I've put a lot of miles in 200+, but they're not quite perfect, got a cheap aliante to try for a bit after the kappa, if that's badly wrong, to specialized I go :)
