As you might have seen, I have just sold my Fort and the trispoke was a bit too fancy for the buyer so here we are.
This is an early 1990's Juna tubular carbon trispoke which has been relacquered professionally last month. It makes a much louder 'shooshing' noise than HED3 / Xentis / Aerospoke when riding, which is, in my opinion, nice.
It was purchased from the cyclist formerly known as Pistoffski as part of a Juna Moscow wheelset (I parted with the rear disc a while back - it was on my Boardman Cougar .
It was labelled as OZZO which was the UK importer of the JUNA brand (eastern european - I believe) and from internet research, that places that wheel around 1992.
I had it relacquered last month by a car shop as the lacquer tends to wear off on those wheels, nice enough job. They relacquered the braking surface too so the varnish will wear off if you use a brake on it. The wheel has not been used with a brake since the relacquering - the wheel was fitted for photos only.
I have glued a good used Vittoria Corsa Evo CX II tubular tyre onto it - I have used the tyre at Herne Hill last season as a rear tyre so no mad skids and it still has loads of life left in it. See pictures - it is mainly used on the left hand side (as you only go anticlockwise at the velodrome). And puncture protection. It is a racing tyre with a latex 'inner' tube therefore it needs to be pumped up every week. I am pretty sure I have a spare valve adaptor which I will find an include in the sale.
As with all full carbon trispokes, it is about 2mm out of true so you can't feel it while riding or braking. Comes with a basic QR skewer. Bearings are still smooth!
Now it is time to talk about money. Relacquering was 50€, tyre was about £50 when new so that's equivalent to about £65 worth already.
Based on the above, £165 SOLD takes the complete wheel home.
