Went out for a long ride on Sunday (180km) found the headwind hard going. Completely threw my fueling.. as I was going so slowly and not sweating, I just kept to my standard mouthful of coconut every hour.
Completely bonked on the return home when the tail wind allowed me to stretch my legs.
Any tips for calculating how much energy your burning, if a.) you don't have a power meter & b.) weather conditions mean speed is a poor indicator? My plan at the moment is always carry a couple of ride shots in my pocket incase of emergency.
That's still 670 calories. Not too shabby if youve been eating sensibly previously.
I really want to figure out a way to be able to eat trail mix without stopping or having a belt contraption. I'm guessing one of those tri pack things that sit on the top tube, but I don't really know how they'll hold up in rain.
