I used this a lot too, and search by User (I liked being able specify All Posts or Threads Started By.
You can still do this - go to user profile, then click on conversations (threads) or comments (posts), and then you get a list, with the search sting that generated that list in the search box, so you can add your own terms

If I type 'Android' into the search I want the android thread, not users called android and not a pile of posts mentioning 'android'.
I used to use the 'No Prefix' option to filter out all Classifieds when searching.
Why is the search box already populated with 'conversations' or whatever? That should disappear. Just default it to conversations and titles only initially then allow finer control (advanced search).
