Sorry I'm not trying to trash the new site!
Things I liked:
Searching with prefixes (e.g. For Sale)
Searching within certain forums
Searching within threads
Searching fir just titles or whole posts
Search results as titles/individual posts
Could you search by member? That was good too.Have I completely missed something or is it all gone?

It's not all gone, most of that is supported.
But instead of having different search forms, with different options, and different ways of displaying the results... we wanted one search form that finds everything.
All of the above is supported. But right now we've not got the UX right for how to display those options.
For example, you should be able to @Velocio in the search box to filter results just by the stuff I've posted. But at the moment you have to do
authorId:47686
which works... but is ugly and clunky. And to search just titles the search gets
inTitle:true
... which is offered as an option on the right hand side of the search results page. These things do exist, but they're not yet convenient to access.
The biggest criticism I have of search didn't come up in any of the user testing, nor the months we ran the test site, nor the weeks we ran the imported test site... the search results don't factor in the date of the item when sorting the results.
So if you search for "for sale bottom bracket", you might get something really old, and you can't sort it by date.
For me, that's the biggest missing thing, the real bug.
The rest is stuff that really needs to be improved fast, but those are UX issues rather than flaws in the actual engine. Things like defaulting to searching titles would fix a lot of those issues... and to have some way to tick a checkbox to search within the current conversation or forum (pre-populating those other options implicitly).

Do!
Seriously, we want feedback.
We spent months asking for it, we invited people in for UX testing, we launched test versions, we demonstrated the import in advance, we invited people to kick tyes... yet this stuff never came up.
We want it to be improved, so please do provide feedback.
We're far less interested in angry people throwing strops and not being constructive, but we love feedback from people who realise we want to make things better fast and help us by providing the info we need to either reproduce an issue or to understand what isn't working. Feedback is very appreciated when it's like that.
To everyone reading... yes, provide feedback. Though perhaps in a thread that I'm reading daily (the subtle bugs one is a good contender).
Please tell me how... I'm making changes soon and want to know how people used search that isn't working now (aside from date sorting).
