to hold the stays to the mudguard instead of the eye bolt. The eye bolt is very weak and tightening it puts force on the eye, and it will break one day.
In addition to using the "jeux barrilets" if you can get some of those little washers on the outside of the jockey wheel bearings from old rear mechs use them as a washer over the "jeux barrilets" as it makes them a lot stronger
