^ I don't believe it is the ISIS flag. There are many black flags with quranic verses in white. According to another news report on TV, it is a verse from the quran calling for 'community'. The locals interviewed said they didn't agree with ISIS as they were killing other muslims. Effectively going against the message in the flag.
I would additionally be unsurprised if the locals in question responded somewhat rudely to journalists asking them "so, are you guys EXTREMISTS then? Can we get a jihadist soundbyte?". It must get a bit wearing to be appearing on the telly with "terrorist" as the descriptive banner underneath your face all the time.

From memory both flags were used. As a child if I saw them, I'd move in the opposite direction... fast. Now my children happily wave them around.
Won't somebody think of the children
Burn all the flags!

Funny. It didn't feel that way at the time. The NF are/were a nasty bunch.

not sure that was really what happened:
one of the gang asked him if he was Jewish. The passerby replied: "Would it make a difference?" The youth said: "Yes, it fucking would."
We need people like this off the streets, they are just as bad as the EDL etc. Also, the Guardian is usually anti Israeli, so there's unlikely to be bias here.
I agree that asking "is this an Isis flag" was inflammatory. Having read the article again I'm disappointed by the way they have put an eye-grabbing headline on the story.

Was in town and there were so many people on the free gaza march. The march went from the BBC place to the American embassy (wher the people were shouting 'shame on you'. ) israelis are ensuring many more people hate them.

A source said she may have travelled to the seaside with the youths who had erected the flag.
Would be great if this were true. We need more people like this!
-
• #31384
Why would she travel to the seaside with them? To explain the error of their ways.
As a christian, that nun's lot had their fair amount of flags when they went to the seaside at Acre

If she managed to engage with them that is an entirely positive thing on a human level regardless of anyone's specific religion.
The fear over a flag resembling the Isis flag is understandable given the quickly escalating war in Iraq. Thats a wierd picture– are those painted models against a background photo? Yes there are definitely interesting parallels between the spread of violent radical Islam and the crusades. -

^unexpected and creepy.
A surprisingly optimistic report fro the Mail, mainly because of the brilliant Nun who spoke to and engaged with the young muslims. I was wrong in my first assumptions about this story.

I'm not liking the headlines about a certain Ms Berry trying to "trick" men into raping her adversary. I guess if you can't blame the rape on the victim (in this case attempted rape), you'll need to find another woman you can blame.
Are we men generally so thick and void of any moral judgement that a mere trick is enough to make us into rapists? The way these headlines are written it seems the consensus is that we are: -

BMX_Fred's letter is hardly from a friend of his mother but one of a slury of agit chain letters making the rounds.. I've found a few hundred posts of that letter-- sometimes with slight variations-- all claiming to be sent to someone's mother but all different names...
But in all honesty.. Similar letters could be posted today by IS(IS/IL) fighters been bombed by Americans. Similar letters were posted by Germans in WW-II. In the air raids on Germany by British and American bombers during that war its estimated that between 300,000 and 570,000 German civilians were killed.
Wars are never pleasant slights and its nearly always the innocent that are victimized. -

As I said, the letter sounded genuine until the use of the word 'martyr'. Your last sentence I agree with. Your comparison however of Gazan civillians with the Isis army who's stated intention is genocide is just another creepy, backhanded illustration of your bias.

Seriously - people who do these awful things to animals should be castrated.
Be careful, you're not allowed to say things like that on here

i don't compare Gaza civilians with Isis army but with civilians in the "Caliphate". Do you think that the US bombing of IS(IL/IS) only hits soldiers? I do, however, compare IS(IL/IS) with HAMAS. Both have quite shared ambitions and are equally declaratively genocidal.

Yousef told CNN that Hamas's final goal is not just the destruction of the state of Israel, but "Hamas' final destination is building the Islamic caliphate, building an Islamic state on the rubble of all other civilizations." When asked whether or not Israel and Hamas can live side by side in coexistence, Yousef responded, "Hamas is not seeking coexistence and compromise," but the full destruction of the state of Israel. -

Agreed, Hamas are as bad a Isis in their intentions. Problem is, it is impossible to criticize one side of the conflict without seemingly implying you are supporting the other. Your posts offer no solutions.

What you need:
- A face mask and gloves
- Two bottles (50 ml up to 500 ml glass or plastic bottles) with caps
- Clean water (mineral or tap water)
4. An Ebola sample: some spit or other disease product, such as blood, from a person infected with Ebola, or who is suspected sick with it. Any small quantity will do, even a pinhead. - An alcoholic liquid, such as whisky, brandy, rum, etc.
- Half an hour of your time.
Procedure:
- Fill the bottle with water, leaving about 20% space at the top.
2. Place the Ebola sample in the water in the bottle. - Close the top of the bottle with the cap.
- Hold the bottle and strike it hard against a solid surface, such as a large book, 40 times.
- Pour out the contents of the bottle.
- Refill the bottle with water (the fluid remaining on the inside surface of the bottle will serve as the next Ebola sample).
- Repeat steps 3 to 6 a total of 30 times.
For prevention:
1. Place a teaspoonful of your Ebola remedy from the stock bottle into a cup filled with water.- Stir the water five times with a disposable spoon or stick.
3. Take a sip from the cup. - During the epidemic, take a sip once or twice a day, stirring five times before taking the sip.
- Refill the cup as needed after striking the stock bottle against a hard surface five times.
er, right then. I'll be doing that
- A face mask and gloves

Amazing that a sample from someone who is merely suspected of having Ebola will be enough to create a cure.
DFP was correct after all.
