A friend a few years back had a rescue dog after it was being abused in a similar way until it was taken away from it's owner. It was a lovely staf and once it bonded with my friend even better but a handful of things would remind it of the previous owner/conditions and it would go ape. The rescue shelter people said it was becoming more common and all to do with dog fighting and basically 24/7 torture from birth to turn a loving pet into "a fighter". I really hope the dog above gets a much better 2nd chance and makes a full recovery.
