  • the highlight quote thing has still never worked for me on any browser/OS

  • meant to quote this:
    IDoNothing
Is there a reason the next/last/first/page number navigations are at the top and bottom of a page on the desktop version but only the bottom on the mobile version?

  • I've changed the font size... it's... subtle.

  • I hate it. It's the worse font size change in the history of font size changes. I had just gotten used to the new size as well.

    #negrep

  • On my notebook using Firefox it's jumps to the newest post, when I click a link to a thread. On my iPad and Android it just goes to the top of the page containing the newest post. The latter is a bit annoying...

  • Font size looks better already (though the post edit window text is still enormous) but fuck me, the whitespace. My god, it's full of whitespace.

  • Shit I just realised i posted this in the wrong thread, though I'm not sure i can be blamed for this as it's in response to the ADMIN posting in the wrong thread!!!!!!

We do something very simple... the browsers fuck it up.

All we do is put the comment Id in the URL as an anchor #comment11751922. And in the page HTML, next to the comment we put id="comment11751922".

It's the browser's responsibility to take the anchor in the URL, see whether it exists as an id in the page... and if so... jump to it.

  • Ok, thanks. Will direct my annoyance towards Dolphin then

  • I got something weird just now

  • I've noticed that it's possible for comments to produce badly nested HTML. it mostly happens when lists are quoted.

I can fix it, but it requires writing a balanced tree parser for the generated HTML. It will be done, but weeks not days.

  • And the bug in question is being tracked here: https://github.com/russross/blackfriday/issues/99

But I'll likely produce a fix outside of that.

  • I've noticed that my text box often has stuff in it on mobile, this seems to be because as I scroll down I'm pressing one of the buttons and it registers as a click even though I'm scrolling. Picture and link buttons do it when the text box is full.

    1. Blockquote
    2. List item ***

In fact they all do it Whether it's full or empty, as you can see from above, I just didn't notice.

  • BTW, @motter and I are pretty much agreed that adding a "Today's Posts" page is a good idea... in the top nav bar too.

It would be for all conversations and events, as well as any future types of post we add. But it will only return the conversations and events updated in the past 24 hours.

So it's equivalent to clicking Home > Conversations & Home > Events... then taking the last 24 hours worth of stuff, and putting them in a single view (which may span a few pages if there were a lot of posts).

  • Also happens to me.

  • on mobile

Would really help if such phrases were qualified with make & model, OS version, browser you are using, browser version.

If things are reported with no instructions on how to reproduce then we'll basically faff for a moment, and then move on.

  • Other buttons and links are all fine.

  • I've changed the font size... it's... subtle.

That's putting it mildy, it look much nicer.

  • Good point, on a galaxy S3 running cyanogen nightlies and whatever version of chrome they ship with it.

  • Who are you?

  • How I used Vbulletin.

I would typically view posts with the latest updates, I would have thought it was one of the most viewed pages on the site for all users.
    lfgss.com/search.php?do=getdaily

In microcosm we have 'trending' but without looking into the code and finding the algorithms behind how chooses content ive got no real reason to trust it.

It might be a better suggester of 'live' content than the blunt measure of last updated content and harder to game, but why can't users have the option to decide for themselves?

The second way id used the forum was to simply view the main page and look for the last update to threads in each section AND by what user.

Being more interested in posts by friends and completely non-interested in anything by TW2

Microcosm doesn't allow me to discriminate.
    This upsets me.

  • I think it would be useful for the Following page to not display threads that have been read.
