  • I'm back from h'day and nothing happend? OK, they changed the whole Layout and I merely find anything, what a crap... I dont have the time for a scholarship to deal with it.
Hey mrblue, any Progress on your bike? In 14 days my frame will be back from it's paintjob and possibly it's finished 1st Place. ;)

  • I finished spraying the clear coat it is hanging up in the shed, waiting final polishing .
I have sprayed the inside of the frame with dimatrol to rust proof it.
As I will most likely be selling the frame set , I am wondering wether I
Should fit a NR headset , or not?

  • Well, Dimatrol or alike is a very good idea, but regarding your headset I do have one or two questions: Your fork is not matching the buildyear of your frame, has it got "coins" in the crown and if so, which colour?
If I'm right, your fork is not the original one, so the measurement of the steerer lenght might not fetch to the originaly used Campagnolo Record Headset. Maybe a Super Record would fit because that builds up slightly higher than Record or a Record Pista headset which is slightly smaller! First of all please find out, which headset would pass, because just buying for the test is quite expensive. Like rebuilding an old italian roadbike allways is...

  • Fork has GT Panto'd (engraved) on top ,on both sides , coin forks are later date . Fork might have been chrome plated in the past as there was some copper plating under the old paint
Bottom Bracket also has GT cut out

  • Fantastic, so it's matching. What you've got is a "Brooklyn" Frame, very desirable and wanted. I personaly would restore it to it's original shape and Fame. To bring it back to former glory the fork needs to be chromed ( costs in Germany 100,- to 120,-€). For a correct timesheet of history and buildyear please contact Marco and Aldo Gios in Bella Italia.

  • Mmmm..... spent a lot of time and effort on those forks and the GT panto looks great filled in gold against the blue ( yes I know should be filled in red )

  • As you like, but "when" you want to sell the set, you'll probably get a higher price in the original trim. BTW theres no pic of your Gold/Blue combination

  • here you go...... oops HDR off on S5

  • Have you got the "coins" ?

  • Yes, after an acid-bath and some works by a framebuilder I sended the frame down to Gios in Italy for repaint, original decals, headbadge and coins

  • Did you win the lotto?

  • No, not at all. I live on social benefit, but I dont drink. The frame was dam cheap, because it was so spoiled and no one else saw that's a GIOS. Acid-Bath 25,-€ and the repairs 75,-€. The paintjob itself, incl.pp was as expensive as here in Germany, but original colour and parts!

  • look forward to seeing it , when it's finished .

  • Yes, I will post a buil thread. I forgot to do that with my last year build up/ bolt-off bolt- on restauration of my 1988 40th Anniversary Gios Compact ;(

  • A told me about this form.

From the 70's I'm a great Gios Torino fan. In 1980 I have my first Gios Torino bicycle. Then another one, another one...........

At this moment I have four Gios Torino bicycles all build in Italy.

This is a replica from the bike with the fourth victory of Roger de Vlaeminck in Paris-Roubaix 1977. Gios build only 35 of these frame sets as a limited edition to celebrate the 35 jubilee of this great event.

My normal bike is a modern Super Record with modern Campagnolo parts

For retro rides I use a 1980 Super Record. This is repainted by Gios Torino in Volpiano and I did the restoration. Same model as my first Gios on 1980

My latest baby is the Prodigiosa. I going to us it special form climbing and put a compact bracket set on this bike.

  • For one of my friends I build a white Professional and......................I think it's a nice bike.

  • Yes It was a great day.

See my photoalbum with lots of pics

  • Yes what a ride! Through the appletrees and horsepoo on the South riverbank of the Elbe, with flocks of swallows and strolling cats over the River on an old ferry and up the hillclimb with 15%. Downtown on to the Reeperbahn passing the famous precint called "Davidstrasse" further on to the oldest italian Restaurant "Cuneo" which is the hotspot for bike enthusiasts ( as long the roadbikes are italian) And through the old Elbe-Tunnel down to the Docks And back to our starting Point (App. 70 km).

And of cause, you brought my frame back from italy with a complete new paintjob by Gios... Yes it was a great Day!
