10,000 euro track frame from 1940's....

  • Spotted this recently and thought I'd share with you all...

Built by the 1920 Dutch Track Cycling champion in the 1940's. Nice lugwork and all. I will probably update this thread with some closeup shots next time I visit.

The third generation owner of the shop is the proud owner of this track frame and says he would sell for the right cash. 10,000euros that'll set you back nicely for a piece of history.

Shop is here if anyone is ever in Amsterdam and wants a look:

    Admiraal de Ruijterweg 112/HS
    1056GR Amsterdam
    Netherlands

  • That was my LBS for a while. The frame is definitely not worth that money... not even €250 imho but it's the right price for him (Jose Aandewiel), since it's the only frame he still owns that was made by his father.

  • Yes I wouldn't pay 10K for a frame let alone a built up one! But its sentimental value isn't it.

So FLRN_HSSL you don't live in these parts anymore then?

  • I spoke to this guy a few years ago when I lived in Amsterdam. The 10k figure was rather tongue-in-cheek, and is priced that way to prevent it from selling. As mentioned above, it was made by the owner's father, so 10k is as good as calling the frame priceless. Of course he doesn't expect anyone to pay that price....
