  • Thank you. Are they trustworthy?

  • Anyone has any experience with a set of Ultegra 6800 wheels?

  • ^^Seem well considered on roadbikereview.

  • Have emailed.

  • I have my Harry Rowland built Mavic open Pro on a 32H Royce Venus hub using 25mm tires. Felt so nice this morning. I really hope this one lasts

  • Trying to choose between the following to accompany new 5800 group. Budget is £300 max, any advice or alternative suggestions much appreciated.

    Ultegra 6800

    Campy Zondas

    &

    Easton EA90RT

  • Reposting as my previous post got lost in the migration...

I'm looking for reasonably priced road, disc only, 11-speed wheels for winter training, commuting and light touring. I will typically be using 28mm tyres and wouldn't be too adverse to tubeless if it is a viable option.

Looking for suggestions... My current thinking is:

DT Swiss XR 331 29er Rim + Deore/XT hubs (I'm not sure shimano make an 11 speed version though)

  • If anyone want barely used Ambrosio nemesis wheelset let me know. Laced on novatec hubs and I think its 11sp shimano compatible but I'll check to make sure. Used for about 100 miles. Anodising still there on braking surface. As seen in the pic.

    £170 takes it

  • I have EA90RTs on my bike and the gf has some Zondas.
Both great riding wheels. Not sure I can really compare the two as I have Ultremo ZX tubeless on mine while she's running tubed tires.

    Both feel light and stiff.

I weigh 90kg and have ridden over 2000 miles on the Eastons over the Alps, across pothole strewn Italian roads and on my London commute and they have performed flawlessly. Still straight as on day one. I love riding tubeless, great comfort and grip. The ultremo's don't last very well though. I finally got a puncture on the very worn rear around the 1400 mile mark. They were a breeze to get on though although that might be something to do with the wider rim on the EA90s. Mounting tires on campag wheels can be a struggle.

I have Campag wheels on my other bikes and swear by them. They're tough and responsive. I reckon both are safe bets.

The ultegras are slightly heavier unless I'm mistaken.

  • ^^ can you confirm 11 speed?

Is there a wide (~23mm), double eyelet, sub 450g clincher rim?

    [edit]
H+Son TB14 is one answer. Anything better?

  • I will confirm (and PM you)

  • Paris-Richmond classic tub-look done. Wheels for sale ;-)

    #buyer

  • Hah!

  • hmm ..

  • Archtype is stiffer and lighter than the TB14, no need for double eyelets due to the V shape.

If you still insist on the classic Paris-Richmond look, the KINLIN ADHN is the best bang for your buck £20 a piece).

  • Do Shimano do road spaced disc hubs?

  • RX31's?

  • We have that rear wheel at work, look decent, little porky and a reasonable width (23mm), felt narrower when checking the internal width.

  • Anywhere doing a better deal on H+ SL42s other than Wiggle @ £60? Or a cheaper, equivalent with the same dimensions so I can use the spokes I have?

  • aforementioned Ambrosio nemesis wheelset:

Weights includes tubs. And freehub looks like 10 speed.

  • Might be a silly question, but I've looked at a couple of pairs of tester approved (tm) wheels and was wondering what the real world difference/improvement is of RS31s over R501s. They look pretty similar and appear to be the same weight. Are the RS31s stiffer or..?

  • RS31 is 11 speed compatible if you're a #buyer

  • Calling people buyers is so 2012

  • What are you selling?
