Sobering reminder that a motor car colliding with a bicycle can result in death... RIP fellow human being who chose to ride a bicycle that night as a means of transport.

There is now more information on the ES site.
Sounds like the rider hit the central reservation and fell into the path of an oncoming car.

bearing in mind the fact that this forum actively and rightly discourages and deletes posts that question and make presumptions about the circumstances surrounding these tragedies, i'd like to question the value in linking to specifically evening standard articles relating to tragedies such as this that allow comments on them. whilst some are supportive, the majority of them appear to be as tasteless and insensitive as they are speculative.
I'm sure the family of the victims, who may well read these (lfgss) threads, are well aware of these attempts at turning their personal tragedy into clickbait for the gutterpress, i just don't reckon we should be encouraging them.

The relevant entry is dated December 9th. I have read elsewhere that following the incident the driver was prosecuted solely for speeding. I'm surprised that there wasn't a greater response to the findings of the inquest at the time. The issuing of a prevention of future deaths notice and the response will hopefully temper some of the feelings many will feel. Remembering my feelings at the time and knowing what I know now I still feel a fair amount of anger. RIP Chris.
Very sad news. RIP :(
