A bike build will invariably cost more than just buying £100 worth of cheap complete bike.

Haha I'm not sure that covers the fast criteria!
I'm aware £100 is optimistic but I have a few components in the parts bin. Frame and wheels are the main things . I reckon it can be done with some freecycle parts / swaps

Got some ratty Bars, saddle and cranks and maybe some other bits you can have for free if you can pick up in Camberwell.

Thanks for the offer but I'm in Bristol. Probably not worth the hassle it would cause you to posting. A frame is what i'm really looking for atm. cheers for the offer though

I built a Raleigh shopper conversion for my gf. Bmx wheels, single speed. Sheldon approved. It's really nice I often use it to pop to the shops on. No one pays any attention to it locked up.

Managed to pick up this badly listed beater for £50 on ebay. Looks to be in good condition, just need to make it look a bit tattier! Have been inspired by the Rat / Pub / Beater / Frankenbike thread!

Thinking of putting some North road bars on for a more relaxed ride, has anyone got a pair ? (will have to check the stem clamp diameter when it arrives)
Due to increasing difficulty of getting my bike on busy trains home on my commute I want to build a bike that I'm happy to leave overnight at the train station .
So looking to build a real ugly pub / beater that even the lowest level thief would be embarrassed to be seen with ! I still want it to be fast and safe for a commute, just look the like bike equivalent of an extra from the walking dead.
As a challenge I'd like to see if I can keep the build under £100, or as close to that as possible. Looking for a frame to start with (55 cm or thereabouts), ideally not French due to threading but all ugly contenders considered!
I'll also consider complete builds but to be honest after building my dream bike I'm quite excited about the idea of creating a pig ugly monster!
What have you got ?!
cheers
