• As much as this bike is super practical, and serves me well as a work horse, I don't really need the rack/paniers, and think I'd enjoy riding a fixed beater to the pub or work again more than I enjoy riding and commuting on this.
It's a lovely bike, and rides really well. I've stripped the frame and forks, and let the surface rust as a theft deterrent. It seems to work, as I never lock it, and sometime leave it outside the pub for a couple of nights at a time, and it's still here! The surface is very much just on the surface, and the tubing is quite thick, plain-guage crmo, so the rust isn't a worry, structurally. All the components are reasonable quality bits, and a lot of them are quite new. I've recently rebuilt the wheels on to mavic open sport rims, and the tyres are newish continental sport contacts. everything works as it should. It's just a bit ratty!

This is what it looked like freshly stripped (would come back to this, with a bit of elbow grease and a wire brush):

This is a slightly more recent picture, with the mudguards, rack and a bit of rust:

I can take a fully up-to-date picture, as it's a bit browner since then (but it's reached a point now where it doesn't seem to be getting any rustier)

If anyone's interested in a straight swap, it's about 56/57cm, and I'd be looking for something the same sort of size. I could wire brush/clear coat the frame, if that would be preferable, and cold meet at Liverpool St station to swap.

    Thanks,
    Sam

  • Hi Sam,

would you maybe be interested in selling the bike instead of a trade? If so, what were you hoping for?
