Dammit, the Sky mitts looked like a maybe justifiable indulgence at £30, now they're £50 again. The quest for some decent mitts continues...

(I had some great Mavic ones that I got for £20 reduced from £50 but dropped one when drunk. Sigh)

I've tried a few different markers on the white to various success. The paint ones work best but run a bit in water.

A few of the fabrics forums discuss removing techniques. I never tried.

At the end of the day I figure function over form and don't regret paying half the price for something that functions just as well as something that cost twice as much.
