The vBulletin interface is a cluttered mess of things, and our core hypothesis is that if we simplify and create a much better experience for all users (rather than just power users)... that we can create sites that have more engagement (stickiness), which in turn translates to growth and makes the communities more awesome.
Rep comments... shit, how many times do new users have ask what people are going on about and where to find them? It's just a mess. Only a minority of power users really even know they exist.
Something will need to be created, to give feedback on good and bad posts, little acknowledgements. But whatever that is, it's not going to be rep comments as you knew them, they're a fudge and something better should replace them.
I'm not in a rush to figure it out though, I believe the best solutions become obvious through real need. When a good solution that new users can grok instantly is apparent, and that will add something significant to the experience, we'll make that.
It's more complicated to create.
