From a quick Google, she was third in a Challenge event in the Philippines. Challenge seem to pay even less than Ironman Corp - can't find the prize for the Philippines, but 3rd at their Vichy event would have taken home just 3500 euros, pre-tax. When you consider that iron distance pros will maybe do 3 races a year, that's no living at all, even if you're successful. Cyclists (at least male ones) would have many more earning opportunities.
Whatever sport she's doing, the lack of money in relation to the achievement is depressing.
