Yeah, I've lengthened the slot on a pair of shimano 57mm brakes to fit my Carlton so I can run 700C, I can put up with the out of period looks as I actually like decent braking. These would have been perfect but in similar vein to yours the drop just isn't long enough even with 27s in..
