I wonder if there are informal agreements with guiness etc to mutually recognise sports governing bodies, otherwise all the doped 100m records etc would still technically count as "world records" but not UCI/IOC/IAA whatever records.
It's simpler for guiness to do as they are told and publish the "offical" line
