The current skirmish is not a direct result of the kipnapping but rockets being fired at Israel. The kidnapping, however, did result in a clamp-down on Hamas and the Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement (a Muslim Brotherhood syndicate in Israel proper). The Shalit deal was already sour as a number of released terrorists were back pursueing their hobby. On 14 April, for example, a HAMAS operative freed in the swap killed Baruch Mizrachi and critically wounded his wife and child. This resulted in a number of arrests. The product of those arrests was intelligence that Hamas had were goiing to try to land a coup by kidnapping a large number of Israelis for ransom.
Its interesting to note that the rockets were all Israel needed to go after the tunnels.
Kidnapping? Arab violence is like background noise.. Its so common that one, after awhile, can't even hear it.. Or did the story of how 19 year old Shelly Dadon was murdered by a Arab taxi driver this past May been news? She was brutally stabbed 17 times all over her body! The work of serial killers of the “Galilee Liberators"-- a place where psychopaths can pursue their joys as quasinationalist liberators.
To the kidnapping.. Yes.. Shin Bet, it seems, knew pretty early on that Eyal, Gilad and Naftali were murdered. I suspect they kept the lid on to be able to pursue their probe into alleged HAMAS plans.
