And couldn't get the placement of the dropout correct - they'll be 50mm, making both a 23c and 35c wheel slam that ST for extra mud sample collection for future study of ground components on Mother Earth.

ST angle's 74?

St 73.5, ht 74.

perhaps a 74 ST to give slightly more clearance?

The 50mm dropout accomodate lots of lots - the mock up graphic isn't right :]

Somewhat dictated by the toe-overlap, I had to make the top tube 10mm longer - other changes are a 20mm longer ST, 1cm less spacer stack and 4mm more BB-drop.

which fork are you going for that's 390mm? generally I see CX fork around 395mm.

Musse listen to Ed. Choose Cx forks

To get the trail somewhat right with a 74 degree HT, i've been looking for a 45mm rake cantilever fork. The Surly Cross-check offers 44mm, but the a-c 400mm will make a gaping hole above the tyre on an übertight SSCX, so I settled on the Columbus Tusk Trekking fork which have the beautiful and unorthodox 390mm a-c and 45mm rake. If the shoe fits, wear it.

One important thing I've found with my old SSCX bike is that the rear canti mount sit a tiny bit too high, I can't set the rear wheel further away as the brake blocks on the cantilever will hit the tyres instead.
I remedy the problem by using a different cantilever brakes that have more drop (lower down), but it's something that's worth taking in consideration, a really long drop out might limited the amount of drop adjustment on the brakes.

Just got back from a 3 week tour and caught the bug again after being off the bike for a year.
This is finally getting built up, as bargain basement as possible.
Italian BB(?) and does anyone know what seat post it'll need? It's a spiral conic

I can but it makes getting the wheel out impossible. Its quite a long dropout so the wheel already squeezes against the fd band. Better than raceblades! Also means that I could have it much lower down at the back, its all about thinking of others you see.
