Second time in as many days I've seen Valverde grab a drink from what appears to be a regular spectator.
Motoman has become Stationarybutwellplacedman.

Tomorrow is going to feel like the biggest anti-climax after the last three days.

Two Frenchmen on the podium. When was the last time it finished like that?

Peraud will be 2nd after the TT. Valverde probably third.

• #4413
Valverde is the Spanish time trial champion though, no, really, he is, so Pinot will do well to stay on the podium.

TT set to actually be quite exciting.

Overnight, Orica-GreenEdge rider Simon Gerrans pulled out of the race to go home. Its cyclists Mat Hayman and Simon Yates already abandoned.
Bit harsh? Yes he technically "abandoned" but his team pulled him.

I noticed that too and thought rather odd. I doubt anything illegal he could have ingested at that point would have helped in time but I don't see why he would take the risk of being spiked.

Valverde is the Spanish time trial champion though, no, really, he is, so Pinot will do well to stay on the podium.
All the other Spanish world tour riders boycotted the national champs, so he only had to beat his team mates from Movistar.
Reports that they all kept turning round to see if Valverde was on their wheel yet are unproven.

^why did they boycott them?

Money.
It's too much to hope that van Garderen can make up 4 minutes on Valverde but you never know.
TT is going to be interesting!
