Insurance Insurance is a bit of a thorny subject, so we thought it best to share what we know on here. The sad reality is that bicycle theft is rife. Covering yourself against the financial and emotional pain of a lost bicycle seems like a good idea to us based on the prices we've seen.

Our bicycles cost £495 or £580. This may sound like a lot, but by bicycle standards it isn't. As such, a Kennedy City Bicycle is relatively inexpensive to insure. Insurance providers have different pre-requisits when it comes to eligibility, but having surveyed the landscape through our customers **we've found a 10% off part of the Cycle Guard website (the 10% off is meant for TFL)** - based on the N1 post code of our workshop this insurance costs about £44 a year. Bearing in mind this is well under a tenth of the price of the bicycle it seems like a smart decision to us. Visit the site [HERE](http://www.cycleguard.co.uk/home.asp?product=Cycle&promCode=201106)

The insurance requires you to use a lock with at least a bronze sold-secure rating for the single speed, and a silver rating for the two speed. Both the locks we sell are silver so will work for either bicycle.

So that's where we're at for the moment, but we're pretty new to insurance so if you have any comments on the above or recommendations of your own we'd love to hear them on 0207 241 4819 or <hello@kennedycitybicycles.cc>

On a side note - these forms of insurance don't tend to include parts, so if you have your saddle stolen you're not covered for that. As a result, anyone who purchases a Kennedy City Bicycle is entitled to purchase replacement parts off us at cost price. We've been there, and we want to make the process of getting back on the road as easy as possible.

    lol

In the event your bike is stolen you could be the one they ask for some tfl staff id as you used a promo code and find you aren't covered all as the shop advised you to save £5...
