We're off on the LDN - BTN next weekend and I was hoping someone could give us a tip on the best pub to stop off at around the half-way or just over mark. Last year we didn't have a plan and ended up in some sh*thole in Haywards Heath which I've still not lived down.
Please if anyone has some info on a decent postcard boozer that does a nice lunch I'd be very grateful.

A bit too over the half-way mark and depending on the route you take, but:

At the top of a hill in a village, BHF route passes this.
Mostly cycle-friendly as they have cyclists going past year round. Done this route 20 odd times and each time they've been nice. Even have a designated bar tap for us cyclists to fill bottles up. -

^The first item on their Spring Menu? Winter Vegetable Broth!

Fuck knows about the halfway mark. Haywards Heath, FFS...
However Brighton itself is the Evening Star, Craft Beer Co. or Basketmakers Arms.
All do great beer, that latter also does great food.

Has anyone got experience of the Wibbly Wobbly Bar in Surrey Quays?
-

Just googled it.
There is nothing there for me.
The name is absolutely horrendous. -

I have plenty more.
I hate Surrey Quays.
I got spat at once by a lovely chap riding riding pillion on a scooter without a helmet. -

Hmm that was rather harsh. I was pissed off because the cat had been sick in the living room and the kitchen.

Nothing to see in Surrey Quays... You'd be much better off at The Mayflower in Rotherhithe...

Best boozer off the Caledonian Road...?

Great for beer, not the best if you want to sit down and have a convo

Market Porter or the Wheatsheaf are the obvious ones, but pretty busy.
The Old King's Head is a bit quieter and personally I quite like it (others seem to view it as a bit grimy/old fashioned). -

Cheers all, grimy and old fashioned sounds up my street

Tiny little old fashioned pub, no (or at least relatively few) suits:

Lord Clyde is a nice pub. Down towards Borough. Love The Rake but not one for a Friday evening.

The Libertine on Great Suffolk Street. Nice staff, amazing pizza (kitchen open until 10pm on Fridays iirc), decent beer selection both on tap and the fridge, suitwanker-free.
