^ I know, he didn't do a 2-1 water to rice, nor did he put a lid on the pan.......not to mention chucking half a fish in the bin!

I thought his rice was spot on.

I thought you boiled rice with the lid on and at the end there was no water left. Is that because I was raised on a hippy commune? Is there cultural differences at work here? Is it because we normally ate brown rice?

^^^ there's no water left because you've used 2-1 water to rice! BAM.
-
• #60612
2 - 1 is too risky, the chance of scorching the rice is too high.

Get a rice cooker, wash the rice a couple of times then It's the magic 1:1 water to rice ratio. Boom, 25 minutes later and it's fluffy as fuck. N00bs without a rice cooker, best £12 I ever spent.

Nah, what you wanna do, right, is put it in a casserole dish - water ratio of 2.25:1 sounds about right, then put a stock cube and some saffron in, and put it in the oven
-
• #60624

washed basmati rice, pinch of salt
1.5 water quantity to 1 rice
