  • Don't forget Soudel Classics series. Went to Antwerp last year. Eurotunnel to Brussels, stayed in Brugges. 1 hour train journal to Antwerp from there. Also koksijde is easy to get to from Brugges, went there 2012/13 for WC.

  • Forum trip anyone?

  • That'd be awesome. Maybe hire a minibus and camp / stay in one of the cities.

    Something like:
    22/11 Race: Uitbergen VCC
    23/11 Watch: Koksijde

  • If you're going to make a weekend of it there is a cross followed by ghent6 option.

£30 a pop for tubeless rims seemed cheap enough to give them a shot.

  • I had a day of total failure trying to mount Racing Ralphs sans tube.

  • Not enough tape / rimstrip by the sounds of things

  • As I said in the other thread- how does one know when to stop with the tape?

I did keep adding another layer and trying again, but there's ~4 layers on there now and still no progress.

Until I work out a magic way of getting the beads out of the central channel and against the inner sides of the rim, it ain't going to work (I don't think).

  • CO2 canister to give it a head start?

You need some sort of inflatable tube on the inside to push the beads against the rim. I have some lying around if you want to borrow some.

Just made the valve very cold

  • As I said in the other thread- how does one know when to stop with the tape?

Tyre bead needs to be tightish against the channel floor so that there's enough of a seal for rate air going in > *rate air going out *:) If you are getting no inflation at all even with Co2 I'd wager the problem could stem from one or all of these:

    • the valve stem has no seal - tighten lock ring or replace
    • there isn't any / enough seal between the tyre bead and channel floor- build up floor with rubber strip
    • the tyre bead is sitting on top of, not around, the valve stem - wrangle the bead over the valve stem
  • I was up at Bethlem tonight, helping JC and a few others clear the course.

For those planning on racing on Thursday, it is surprisingly wet in the woods so I'd be running mixed condition tyres if I was able to race this week.

  • Racing Ralphs (with tyre boot) ok?

  • Yeah but I'd replace the booted tyre really. It will probably be OK but would be annoying if it killed itself and ended your race. I guess you don't have quite as far to come as me though :)

  • It would be, yes - where to get them for the best price that would deliver it tomorrow though?

  • Ordered mine from Germany so no, they aren't going to make it for Thursday. Condor could probably sell you a Vitoria or conti tyre though?

  • You're pretty close to Beckenham, are you? I have a couple of conti speed kings I could lend.

  • Who's coming to Bethlem then?

Any chance someone local could bring down a load of water / ice? Looks like it will be another scorcher

  • I'm in for tomorrow. I'd better be, having just spent an hour getting my bike ready.

No way of transporting a bunch of refreshments, I'm afraid.

  • Me too. Could be interesting, haven't had an off-road ride since the second last round of london league last year.

  • I'm in, see you all when you lap me!

  • I have a chest infection so I'm unlikely to be lapping anyone. But I'll be there. Taking the train down from Charring Cross about 4ish. Waterbottles in the freezer as we speak.

Grab me if you want tips on how to puncture and / or ride into a tree.

  • I'm not racing. Other half has yoga on a Thursday so I'm not sure I'll make any of the four races.

Good luck all, especially hats. If you're lucky they'll only be 3 women racing and you'll get on the podium!

  • @Howard - Have you put gears back on the Talbot, or are you racing SS this year?
