news just in,
LMNH have something 'new and shiny' to replace the Santini with (and are probably quite ready - after nearly four months - to gaze upon something else), so if anybody wants the steed (assembled as-is), its for sale from me for £900 via a PM..
.. although perhaps there's another venue willing to display her... hmmm..

(over one year on since starting this thread! ...) still stuck with this bicycle despite an ongoing and reoccurring eBay listing (at the high price of £975 - £75 above cost, to cover the eBay fees).. so...
does anybody from the forum want this bicycle?
(complete - as it is; possibly after removal of the Brooks saddle, which i'd quite like for another bicycle..)
it makes sense to keep it in the forum, as it was mostly acquired from here in the first place (mistakenly, in retrospect!);
liking the idea of starting an auction for it, starting bids from £1...
... will sell when the bid/time/combination is right..
.. how about it?!
:-)

Basic rules for classifieds:
No cross-posting adverts you've put on other sites. If you have an item for sale anywhere other than here, like ebay, bikeradar, ctc, retrobike, etc. then you cannot post it here. However, if you have posted it on one of those other sites, other people who have discovered it are allowed to post it in the eBay/Craigslist finds thread. You must not do this yourself. -

have ended the eBay auction,
End My Listing Early
You have successfully ended your listing. The reason you selected will
appear on the Closed Item page.(it kinda was never gonna sell on there anyway, unless starting the bidding at £1 that is!)

would consider selling the bicycle in two parts initially,
- £623 the fully-assembled bicycle less: wheelset (incl. tyres), seat
- £245 the wheelset + tyres
(the saddle which costs the remainder of £32 is destined for another bicycle to replace an uncomfortable 'turbo')
- £623 the fully-assembled bicycle less: wheelset (incl. tyres), seat

due to lack of forum interest.. its now back on eBay as i'd like to place it onto Retrobike to see if some cash can be recouped..
-
• #10
Please edit the first post as to not contain any information about the bicycle/sale.
Otherwise, just saying that it's not for sale here but on retrobike and ebay, while keeping all the info anyway, doesn't stop from being an ad here to something that's for sale somewhere else. -

While you're at it, remove the ebay link on your last post too.

hey j bad ass, this thread is unresolved, its telling the story of an attempt (ongoing for over a year now!) to pass onto a Lundun-towner (maybe a forum-monger, its kinda on/off) what is a perfectly decent bicycle, but one that's useless for me as, it doesn't fit (despite the seller posting on here that it was 56x56 frame, so more likely to fit),
appreciate your advice though,
which is more than can be said for most of the other X-thousand of members of this social space, who are yet to offer much advice on how to solve a problem that stemmed from here, namely: some guy in another country being really slack with an advert, not bothering to post up correct measurements, and then me foolishly trusting such casualness and paying over cash for something which is currently questionably worth what was paid over for it.. despite my delusions (of a bargain) at the time!.. for the thread to tell the story more fully, cut me (or rather, this thread) some slack man from the straight-jacket of whatever gospel/rule-book you've in mind!!

update: possibly the only route to a sale of the complete bicycle would be to start an auction on eBay from £1, no reserve!
so its either likely that (as retobikers are probably too sensible to splash out nearly nine hundred gold coins on something that could possibly be built up for much less - by people in the know?!);
or,
might (regrettably) break up the bicycle into parts,
{at least it was displayed as a complete bicycle in the prime window-space of LMNH for a few months earlier this year}
..which probably would be the best chance of recouping some cash,
- anybody interested in the Campag Record groupset?!
- anybody interested in the Santini frame/fork/stem combo?
might keep the wheelset for another build..
- anybody interested in the Campag Record groupset?!

From the rules:
"No cross-posting adverts you've put on other sites. If you have an item for sale anywhere other than here, like ebay, bikeradar, ctc, retrobike, etc. then you cannot post it here. However, if you have posted it on one of those other sites, other people who have discovered it are allowed to post it in the eBay/Craigslist finds thread. You must not do this yourself."This is quite straightforward. Selling it here means you're catering to a very specific community, that can have advantages and disadvantages, but it's altogether a choice. Have it elsewhere? Remove it from here.
Why do I bother in mentioning this? Simple, it's part of how this forum works, this way we're protecting each other.
And you can still "tell the story" removing the links and sales info. A good thread title, like yours, already has enough information so if someone, by any chance, has a question about a previous sales thread, they can always PM or reply in the thread.

update,
in response to a PM enquiry from Si46,
will post a price for the frame+forks+stem later on...
{apologies for the likely delay in this, got some other admin to do first, and the sun is shinning - still stuck indoors, and mostly indoors 9 to 5, so resh air and outside-ness is necessary}
... and possibly re-post as a new advert (with more concise clarity!)
@j-bad-ass,
the complete bicycle is for sale on eBay to see in anybody from retrobike is interested..
.. i'm anticipating the likelihood that the price is too high for the enthusiasts of retrobike, {and being unable to easily reach those cash-rich time-poor - without the time to building something up like this themselves)}..
.. so gauging potential interest from the forum on the break-up of the bicycle..
so,
**if anybody is interested in purchasing the Campag Record groupset or Santini frame/fork/stem combo separately, please post here in this thread your interest (instead of PMing me) and be please be patient as i need to do the math on what a fair price is for the split... **
@ j-bad-ass, to address your concerns (and get you off my back - to put it politely), will remove the links to eBay and Retrobike - although this might waste time for somebody who was curious in those links... anyway, will make-it-so following this post.... {guess this is appeasement, but what the heck, 'time is precious' as somebody told me in the toilets at The Flask, whilst attending Norths!}
re. your quoting of the rules, actually i'd argue i've been compliant as the bicycle was first posted to the forum for sale... its much simpler to keep this thread going instead of posting a new one each time something is re-offered to the forum; but to make it more concise and clearer, will consider re-posting something separate for the individual sale of the parts, but this thread is kinda my 'workings' for that future post... and i'm without time to do it right now..
note to self: please please please please pass on this entire Santini bicycle + parts before the year is out #regain-mind-space #regain-sanity
pps. to anybody interested in the frame, i'd very much consider painting over the scuff mark as it kinda spoils the whole look.. possibly getting the whole thing professionally repainted would be best methinks - as its been assessed as something solid, classic, and has some great details;
quote from a Zen page-a-Day-calendar: "God is in the Details", :-)

I'll break down the rules one more time.
Possible scenarios:
a) You want to sell the bike here.
Result: you can't have it posted anywhere else.b) You want to sell the bike somewhere else.
Result: you can't have it posted here.There's no c) option where you can have it here and somewhere else.

@J-Bad-Ass, have removed the external links, and updated the OP in response to your posts;
admit that the linking to an advert ('for sale' thang) hosted on an external website was in beach of this bit of the rules that you quoted,
"No cross-posting adverts you've put on other sites."
(but most likely pretty harmless no?! just like proceeding on a journey on a bit of empty road that just happens to have an erected traffic-light with a red light showing!!)
apologies for taking up your time by being neglectful of the 'cross-posting' bit of the rules,
noted for next time,
bon Samedi,

Maybe it didn't show, but none of this (hell, no internet discussion is) was personal.
You're benefiting from this rule too, when you're seeing other ads here you know that that user thought about his/her selling options and opted to sell only here. Maybe he/she likes the community, maybe he/she prefers someone from the community to buy his/her bicycle that was treated with so much love and care, and not an anon from eBay located god knows where that will do god knows what to the bicycle, who knows, but there's a reason and it's most likely for our (as a community) benefit.

note to self, also PM 'lesantini' with the fair price for the frame/forks/stem combo to be offered for sale likely soon... (would be a name-fitting sale!!)

provisional pricing offer to the forum
{as shown in the updated OP}
-
• #23
bump, prior to individual threads for the sets of bits, then eventually the bits.. (!),
three purchasing possibilities,
£625 for the complete bicycle (as pictured), without the wheel-set
(and tyres) and saddle (which is pretty-much the cost of import before
the necessary restoration-work and build-up!) or, if split,£350 for the group set (Campagnolo Record 12-speed, painted) including
seat-post (painted) + (nearly-new) sprocket and chain; excludes any
hubs£275 for the rest: frame (Columbus SL frame tubing, size: 54.5 ST
by 55 TT) + forks + stem + matching-pump (all Santini-branded) +
bottom-bracket + pedals + toestraps + bar-tape
Update
provisional pricing-offer to the forum for an initial split-up:
three purchasing possibilities,
or, if split,
**please get in touch with any offers / interest in this thread.. will then subsequently get in touch or respond.. **
(please see this page for details of the parts)
as assembled
background
bicycle was purchased for personal use from a forum-advert stating the frame was larger (56 x 56) than it turned out to be (!); after being restored and reassembled - optimistically (and in retrospect, stupidly!) to fit a male with height of 5ft 10 - it was discovered for certain that the bicycle frame was and is too small for personal use
