Sign up to freecycle keep your eyes peeled (every day) for a month or so and you could be lucky. Or do what I do and go down your local council tip, they reguarly have old bike beeing thrown out, ask one of the attendants how much they want usualy a fiver will do and you can take it away.

Yep i'm a freecycle regular, current fixed wheel build came from there but I was burned the other night when an "old mens racing bike" turned about to be a knackered mountain bike frame with everything bar the mountbike rims and busted bar taken off it.... gah! So i thought i'd ask around here :D
Council tip, i'll bear that in mind, ta!

Yeah tips are perfect places for scanks like me. All of our kitchen chairs are from the tip, sannded down with some reupholstery and we have some good chairs. Just got a chair for living room too the other week halfway through doing that one as well.

what size are you after? i've got a 25" falcon frame that's sitting beside my desk at work. horizontal drops. ugly as sin, but probably would survive a nuclear meltdown.

I've got a 54cm 1980's Ciocc road frame in good condition, no dents but in need of a respray. Horizontal dropouts so a good candidate for a fixie.
I'd be up for a swap for some parts if you were interested - I could do with a track stem and a seatpost!

Hi,
I have a Peugeot 93-94 steel racing bike that I commute to work on. I want to sell because I want something with handlebar shifters rather than downtube for riding in town.
It is in good condition (great metallic purple/silver paint job) and in working order (wheels, brakes, cables, saddle, downtube shifters etc all fine). The reason for the good condition is that for most of its life it was only ever ridden in the dry and kept indoors. The drivetrain needs changing (no problem if you're converting it to ss) along with the tyres and brake pads.
I'd be looking to get £100 for it, and like the idea of its new owner giving it a new lease of life.

Ello Tom, I'm hunting for a large racer for a mate - what size is your pug?
-
• #11
I'm not sure - I'd say it's 56cm. It fits me and I'm 6ft tall.
-
• #12
that may be perfect, give me a day to harass my tall mate and I'll let you know. Do you have any pics you could email me? But if someone makes you a quicker offer, take them up on it.

i'll most likely have an old evans touring frame pretty soon that i'll want to sell on

ah, but tall friend is a bit style over substance, so one with a sparkly paint job might attract his eye. ;-)

It looks a bit like this http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh167/edscoble/IMGP0762.jpg but it has not been converted to single speed. I'd say the frame has a nicer paint job than this and is in better condition.

Strike while the iron is hot if there are old bikes at your local tip!
I went home to Cornwall last week and thought I would visit my local tip and pick up a few old frames and put them in the garage for future use. There used to be loads leaning up against the scrap metal skip. All chaged now, the tip has handed over salvage rights to a local business and you can't buy things there anymore. This local business hauls everything off to a storage warehouse and charges you ten times the price the local tip did. So if you can get cheap frames still buy plenty and store them for later. I wish I had! -

LOL 6 yrs gap.
Hi all,
I'm looking for a tired racing frame to create another fixed wheel "masterpeice". This time as a training bike for my buddy who is doing the London to Spain trip with me at the end of the summer.
Let me know if you've got one you want to get rid of, the cheaper and uglyier the better!
