  • ^^^You need to get on board with the confusing ramblings of Greg Lemond and his bizarre French co-host on Lemond on Tour. It reminds me of a University radio show.

Yeah that setup's bad isn't it.

The chat between Greg and some of the guest racers is funny to watch though. I think they get that he gets it, even if he has trouble actually speaking.

The Lemond & Degenkolb show would definitely work.

  • I reckon even without the crashes Froome would have shipped a load of time to Nibs. That said, if he did start the stage with a fractured wrist....

C'est la Vie, denied both Cav v Kittel and Froome v Contador v Nibali epic showdowns suspended until next year. Hope the rest of the Tour lives up to the start now, and I hope Geraint and Yates get let off the leash to fly the flag for us.

  • No one's ever seen this guy and Superman in the same place, just saying.

    Isn't that David Byrne?

Ha! Lemond basically has to say everything three times, in three different ways and usually still fails to make that point, mostly because he is being stared back at by a uncomprehending native French/Dutch/Italian/Spanish speaker. Hell even Geraint struggled, but then he is a Welsh. And his French mate is bonkers. Still it has a low-budget charm about it.

  • Sky built their team around their strongest, most committed rider. Why would you not do that? It's very easy to stand here with hindsight and say 'told you so'.

I think most of us were saying it before the Tour, it's less hindsight and "told you so" than just "really, told you so".

Yes, you build your team around your best chance. But it's the Tour, plan A seldom comes through and if you've got the option to have a viable plan B then you build that in.

The issue is that the individuals involved are putting themselves above the team. Individuals don't win the Tour, a team does, and a team can put a good enough individual on the podium. Wiggins always knew that, Froome less so.

Sky screwed up by allowing the politics of individuals affect the chances of the team just because two individuals may have gone at each other. It's the DS's job to treat them like the children they are clearly being and remind them they are professionals being paid a chunk of money and winning bigger chunks of money from sponsorship, and perhaps they should behave like professionals and get the job done as a team.

Anyone who cannot play for the team shouldn't be on the team. Individuals don't win the Tour.

  • ^^ Geraint has totally learnt from the Wiggo school of media management hasn't he. He's quite a cheeky chap and doesn't mind putting out a good quote.

He's ridding like Sir Wiggo too.

    Come on Thomas !!!

  • Wiggins isn't riding the Tour. We know that, let's get over it and move on ffs.

  • What? I want my (Sky subscription) money back?

    Shan't

  • I'd rather listen to Phil and Paul than Millar. He's an arrogant, conceited prick whose failings as a human being have ended up, somehow, making him even more self-satisfied.

Phil is the worst! Remember his crazy ramblings on Australian radio about a conspiracy against Lance? Men in dark suits with suitcases of money?

This morning was the first time I watched it. I failed to understand any of it. At one point the French guy made some horrible joke about Lemond's car being a particular car on the back of a truck being moved. And then there was that thing with the flower?

    It's truly amazing. 10/10.

  • Canc being shown how it's done

  • That's m'boy.

  • ^^did you take those Gooz........awesome

  • Goonz.....sorry

  • Did this make it's way here?

"@Vaughters good deal with @cannondalePro. I am very much support it! #changecycling"

    Garmin and cannondale joining?

  • ^^did you take those Gooz........awesome

    No chance! I'm in London.

  • Hah!

riders complain about the selfie craze, then take selfies...

    Oh wait, Valverde.

That was tweeted by attention whore Oleg Tinkov and then deleted.

  • great article sparky..

    Thanks chap.

  • Re. plan B Sky don't do them, 2011 anybody?

  • Ritchie

  • Geraint stayed up! Plus he might had made it to the pointy end if he wasn't babysitting Porte once Froome went down.

  • Anyone have a guesstimate on how much Peter Sagan weighs? Wikipedia says 73kg but he looks much bigger.

  • That was astonishing from Nibbles - seen him put some hard days in on the Strade Bianche before but nothing like that.

On the subject of Team Sky....wish they'd taken a leaf out of the 1986 Vie Claire playbook obvs....
