I'm afraid you'll have to say goodbye to locutions like this, Clive:
I just crumpled like a sack of spuds
No more spuds inside that sackcloth. :)

No more chip on my shoulder either?

Please go easy on the energy drinks and booze, too, or you'll be mashed long before you get to Monte Carlo.

Clive - I've found that in northern Italy a lot of restaurants offer gluten free pasta if requested. I can't speak for how it is down south, amongst the terrone.

Thanks Andy, fingers crossed that we have someone with us who can make the request in Italian! I have been advised to travel with spelt pasta as they may agree to cook it in some hotels.

Hi Clive, just been catching up with your blog posts. You’re a stubborn old goat, and almost a mountain one now. Faith commented on your amazing weight loss, noting that you haven’t ‘gone all gaunt and ugly with it’.
Good luck with the trip. We’ll have to go for a ride somewhere before the summer’s out…

Thank you BMMF. I really appreciate that. A ride would be good. It would be great to catch up.
