'Murica innit?
Think I saw you and the missus looking very yellow a couple weeks ago heading westbound on Upper Richmond Road.

That certainly sounds like us. Should have said hi!
-
• #104
Should've but too much traffic make it difficult to.

The amount of water you can carry on that one is madness. Wish we had a few more tbh. Bought some clamp on bosses but sillilly measured the top tube diameter as it was closest and it turns out the across-tube where they'll be mounted is fatter, so it's a no go. Ho hum.
Unorthodox stoker stem arrangement on that one too, ed. quite clever as it needs to be loooong, but seems a step more complicated than it needs to be.

Get some big jubilee cup to mount the bottle cages?

When you toured fully loaded, did you find the frame had a lot of flex?
We took ours touring for the first time at Easter and fully loaded the thing was a bit terrifying at first! Feels like it's twisting a lot. Bit of a learning curve to riding it loaded.

Use the spring to your advantage! When we came back from our first tour it took me a good few days to unlearn the technique and ride a solo again.
Just had a weekend on my super galaxy solo. Which is equally flexy. It's the bike's way of telling you to slow down and relax a little :) -

Ours is definitely flexy...especially with 4 panniers and a bag on the rack...oh, and a bar bag.... It's ok, but doesn't inspire a lot of confidence when you're used to something a bit more modern and stiffer....

The last piece arrived from the Netherlands:
It is loooooong, is the fanciest quill I've owned, and has a nice darkish colour to it.Means I could finally put the new bars/levers/tape on and cable everything up, meaning the bike is officially Finished and ready to roll. We took it on a little shakedown roll to Farningham yesterday and nothing went wrong, so I reckon it's all good to go.

Well, we're off today (in an hour or so). Will try and get a snap of it with everything on but have to finish packing first. We'll be updating tourdetandem.tumblr.com as we go, and if anything falls off and needs fixing I guess I'll update this thread too. See you all at the end of summer :)

I wish I'd seen this thread sooner so I could've wished you a more appropriate 'bon voyage' yesterday; I'm sorry I'm not very good at real-life social interaction!
I hope you two have an epic adventure. You've done enough work to deserve one!
This is an inspirational project.
I'm gonna show it to my wife and then see if we can't throw loads of money away on a tandem. -

Woohoo!!!
Have fun!!

Just saw the tumblr on the book of face and am following.
You two are my heroes, and I get super envious every time I read of your touring adventures.
Enjoy it. I look forward to reading about it in this here thread and on tumblr...

so many bottle cages...
That is some serious water bottle capacity.
