  • Up fro grabs is my 853 tig welded road frame, forks and headset.

I got this a year ago from here http://www.lfgss.com/thread105476.html

It is a lovely bike. Branded as a Ribble but built by Dolan (maybe?)

It is 56 ctc seat tube and 55ctc top tube

I had the frame 'professionally' wrapped in a real tree camo similar to this to look after and protect from scratches

I will get photos of its current guise up asap however in the mean time here are some as it looked last summer when I rode it up and down some alps (it was fantastic).

There is a tiny tiny ding in the top tube and an even smaller one in the incredibly beefy chainstay. Neither of which are any issue.

This hasnt been ridden too much as from Dec-May it was inside as I was out of the country. Also now including a headset.

*SOLD* Collected from North London or can meet. Would rather not post.

    Any questions, shoot em over.

    thanks.

    X

  • I think they are Dolan built from memory.

I have one of these and it is frankly gorgeous, I love it.

It is a lovely bike. Branded as a Ribble but built by a respected framebuilder (whose name annoyingly I cannot remember right now)

  • That camo has me digging for my wallet but shade too small (touch over 6ft), great looking ride though

  • It would look great with a foot of seatpost and a euro 130mm stem!

  • Ha true, currently running a 59.5tt with 110 stem...so we're pushing a 145 to make this happen!

  • Very interested. Dibs if post-able.

  • Such want. FFS, why am I broke...

  • ^I wanted to sell this to buy your look

  • Gah we could have done this and cash, ah well... GLWS it's a lovely frame. And a bargain.

  • I don't understand, sorry.

  • What dont you understand?

  • Not sure what you mean "I wanted to sell this to buy your look".

  • I was talking to Buckaroo about his Look.

  • Ah, ok, makes sense now. That's obvious looking at it now.

  • Still super tempted by this...keep coming back to it. Would be good to get an idea how tall you are for the current set-up? Everything's spot on, just wary about the sizing!

  • Reckon it'll be too small for you. I'm 5'11"
It's actually provisionally sold pending pickup tomorrow morning.

  • Thanks for that, someone's getting themself a great deal!

  • Highly likely to be a Mike Kowal built frame, made loads of steel stuff for Ribble in the back end of the nineties until reasonably recently. Also a lot of his better stuff (not the naff lower end touring frames) was 853

  • Unlikely 3rd dibs
I actually really like it too. I'm 5.10 though, prefer a 54/55 TT. Would make a good pair to my Kowal built 853 track/TT

Geometry looks TIGHT, love a decent modern steel frame. What size tyres are pictured and reckon you could get 25c's in it? (Scotland's roads are not really roads, except for the 2m wide x 12mile strip of the commonwealth road circuit, which is brand new).

  • yeah its very tight geo, why I like it! Also very stiff.

It has 23c conti 4 seasons on it as for me they are the perfect all year round tyre and I CBA to change that kinda shit round whenever the weather changes.

They are quite large for 23's

Could be a Mike Kowal, I have no idea but havent seen any other ones like this with such oversized tubes and really beefy chainstays, also tig welded

  • *sold*

  • Close the thread...

  • Still for sellz?

  • dibs
