Thanks for the input on the thread, and via your PMs. Given the fact that there are probably only going to be 12 (or less) teams, and the general consensus (among Londoners primarily) is for a one-dayer, I've decided to squeeze it into one day.
The reduction of teams from 16 to 12, in two groups, means that there will be 30 group games, as opposed to 56, so even just based on numbers alone the time required to play a two group format is about half anyway. Everyone will still get 5 games of 15 minutes each, and I'm hoping for one more each, if the whipping is good. I intend to release the full schedule sometime early on Friday, so forfeits will be in force if you do not show up in time for your alloted game times.
I feel bad for the teams that are travelling - I am really sorry that this tournament has not attracted sixteen teams to complete the original format I had in mind. Given that this reduction is happening, I (subject to LHBPA approval) would like to offer you a full refund on your registration fee of £60, regardless of whether you come or not. So you can play for free, or you can get your money back. But please let me know by Wednesday 9am (that is when I am going to the bank).
The venue is still booked for the Sunday. I am going to talk to the manager tomorrow and see what the story is with possibly getting a refund for the second day, but at this late stage it is highly unlikely (so this is a hit for the LHBPA). I would hope that for any visitors that do attend on the Saturday that there will be at least throw ins, and hopefully some team games, at Westway if it is still booked, or at another court if otherwise.
If anyone would like to chat to me about this, drop me a PM with your phone number and I'll give you a call, it will be easier than sending PMs back and forth, I am on the forum less often these days.
