  • Hello all,

Thought this could be of interest, my two part interview with the chap who was responsible for bringing and organising the 5th stage of the 1994 Tour in Portsmouth. Details the hurdles of bringing such a massive operation to town whilst keep in schtum and discusses any potential legacies on a local and national level.

    http://www.strong-island.co.uk/2014/07/02/when-the-tour-came-to-portsmouth-a-conversation-with-john-bagnall-part-22/

Rather selfishly a friend of mine decided to get married in the Dorset countryside tomorrow, so I wish everyone attending a great time.

  • I'm planning on watching around Lea Bridge Road but I can't really remember what it's like. Any suggestions for vantage points, cheers.

  • I keep having mild panic attacks, worrying that the Tour route doesn't actually pass Luci's Corner. I just imagine us all stood there like lemons in the wrong location entirely...

...like I did during the 2002 Vuelta.

  • Off your tits on cheap drugs and Spanish cooking lager?

  • I thought I recognised you from somewhere...

You owe me 11 years child maintenance, you scoundrel.

  • With luck I'll get to see Sat on TV but then it'll be Tivo catchup next week.

  • Good People of LFGSS, I am Kooz, long time reader of your beautifull forum, first time poster.

On route to Leeds this eve, was thinkin of wild camping but am gna be left with too much to carry so may have to find a thick enough bush to crash in saturday.

Tillover, Do u still have a couch going spare in Harrogate?
I'td only be for the sat night.

  • Start time on Saturday has changed by five minutes - 11.05 kick off.

  • Any good suggestions on how to watch the tour on an iPhone?

  • tv catchup?

  • Eurosport player.

  • Ha ha, Cav on Eurosport just now.

"This is like D-Day for you today?"

"No not really. Why's that? Lots of people lost their lives on D-Day."

  • The ride has started.

  • I'm planning on watching around Lea Bridge Road but I can't really remember what it's like. Any suggestions for vantage points, cheers.

maybe navigate to where Cross Roads / Earl's Path meets Epping New Road, to enjoy a pint or few at The Robin Hood, as long as its open that day..

.. good vantage viewspot might be upon the roundabout there with a view of them approaching ?!
