But is a Pinarello or Colnago really that much better than a Boardman? Somehow I doubt that too. The fact that the McLaren thingy comes with its own display stand should tell you everything you need to know about that bike.

i think that all carbon fibre components are made by hand and manufacturing costs of cf are much cheaper than they were 5 years ago. also, you are paying extra for mclaren paint job and logo but it is still a specialized. will it be so much better as price tag would suggest than colnago or pinarello? somehow i doubt...
if you are asking these questions then it's clearly not for you, is it?

well, that depends. i like the look of it, understand the idea behind the coop with mclaren to fine tune the bike but will still laugh at the price tag. it looks like a rip off to me but i will not stop you from buying one for me...

Seems like its all about brand perception at that price...
For some unjustifiable reason i don't really like trek and specialized but like cannondale and out of all the top spec OTPs find the black inc evo the most desirable.
Trek do do some clever details like the duotrap sensor in the chain stay. Almost every bike at this level has a garmin sensor on it from day 1. Still not enough to get me to buy one.
Looks like the 6.8kg UCI rule will topple soon. Could create an interesting fork in the road for weight vs discs.

No, £1995 for a Mercian 531 with those bits, plus £3000 hipster tax.
