I know this has sold, but does anyone know if a 59cm is suitable for a 6 foot 5 guy, or whether larger sizes (e.g. 62cm) exist as I have never seen a bigger one?
-
• #12
They do exist... but they're ill advised. The bonded alu tubes were notorious for a lack of lateral stiffness. That got amplified as the overall frame size increased. So for someone of your Herculean proportions I suspect you'll find the experience of riding a 60cm+ bonded frame somewhat akin to mulching spaghetti with your barefeet whilst standing on a wobbly rope bridge during an earthquake whilst experiencing delirium tremens.

what he said.....^
the frames do exist, I had 62 that came with the original bill of sale and vitus guarantee...he'd bought it and then been hit by a lorry so it sat in the cupboard for 15 years. It was like riding one of those clothes dryers made out of 6mm steel wire. Very Nice to look at... not so nice to ride.
If you want a frame that big, go steel.

Thanks guys. That's a shame, I love the look of them. I shall stick with steel.

I´m 6´2" and ride a 59cms. It´s an amazing ride and less flexible than my steel Rossin. I haven´t noticed any flex at all tbh.

I had a 55cm 992z. Put 20k mikes on it as a daily in the early 90s. No flex and great to ride.
Loved it and still own it.
Decided to part company with my much loved and cherised Vitus 979 Duralinox size 59cm main tubes are dark blue this is the later version with the rear grub screw seat pin clamp which is fine and holds very well threads are perfect. All threads are perfect its straight, true and good condition
