  • Here is my professional on commuter duty.

Some of you might think it is inappropriate but it is such a nice ride, and is used every day of the week, so! Life is too short to ride shit bikes.

  • Well.... Gios and Fixie is close to a sacrileg, but it looks gourgeous. Maybe some amber-Wall tires matching the Saddle and the Grips?

  • Your Super Record is quite close to the original trim, keep it on the road for the next retroride

  • In the meantime, on the opposite side of Turin, just outside the FIAT Mirafiori plant...

  • Probably your chain is a little short, to much tension on the rear derailleur

  • No, works brilliantly... I never use the 53 ring with anything bigger than the 20 sprocket, if I did I'd probably add 1-2 links.

  • Hey everybody, after I got such a great help with my seatpost problem, I do have a last Problem to be solved. I just Start to rebuild a 1979 Gios Super Record and I'm looking for the original fork coins in Silver and for an original watersoluble decal for the top tube. The white one with " Super Record" written on. In case someone got one of these pieces still in his attic please, please pm to me!

  • if no responses
gold coins - could always try painting if you wanted silver, or use the coin as a base for having a silver one cast.
decals - plenty of reproductions around. If you get an original, it may be brittle.
Cyclomondo's decals are highly regarded, and are thin.
If you have time, have a look at Greg's bikes
    including his Brooklyn team bike
it gives an understanding of Greg's attention to detail.

  • Hy BB, yes his collection is breathtaking and the Brooklyn is perfect. I know his high quality Stickers because I allready used a set of his decals on a former projekt. They are great! But this time I just want to get one step closer to perfection. The rest of the original set I got in a fantastic state of conservation, like new. So I try to get the missing one by heart.

  • you might want to ask JR at Velocals to do the waterslide decals you need as a special order. Just make sure you specify waterslide not vinyl.

  • Which handlebar tape is the better choice for a 1979 Super Record rebuild? A " Ambrosio" or a "Benotto" (both in White) or a Hand swen leather cover?
    Please let me know

  • Benotto or cloth, hand-sewn leather is for hairdressers and gigolos.

  • Thanks Colin, I guess you dont dress hair, dont ya? Just found a picture of R. De Vlæminck 's Super Record with "Ambrosio" tape ... I guess, I go for that ... When I find a set in white

  • tempting... http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/fietsen-en-brommers/fietsonderdelen/m818421008-gios-torino-compact-frame-59-cm-cc.html?c=8c285449651fa109c354bbabe740c1b&previousPage=lr

Well, lot of work, because it´s a mix-up!
A"Professional" frame with a "Super record" fork, which is quite to long. Getting the matching fork is quite a job and cutting down the one offered is a terrifing Imagination. There must be a frame missing it! It´s an offer for someone who needs the one part or the other and maybe later on he gets the missing piece for the other part

  • hmm i just bought a gios.

i'll have to post some pics.

  • What a bright idea!

  • needs a new stem which is less ugly and a bit lower.

needs the saddle tipped down a bit.

    otherwise it's a done deal.

anyone have any suggestions for good looking stem? thats 1" and 31.8 mm.

I'd love to find an actual Gios stem.

i have a shim for the steerer if necessary

Where can i find one of these?

  • This looks nice but quite young isnt it? Do you know the type or buildyear?

  • Just thought I'd mention I've got a GIOS jersey for sells here if any of you GIOS types are interested: http://www.lfgss.com/thread129052.html

    P.s sorry for shady spam

  • ^^^ I have one sat on my desk here ...but it does't belong to me so I can't let you have it.

If it's any consolation they're very heavy and ugly in the flesh metal.

I believe its an 05. But I haven't taken the time to look at the serial number. Its definitely contemporary.

  • ^^damn you
