Aus has amber but the cycle is different - we only get amber before red, not before green like over here. Also, we don't have the dumb thing where both sides of a junction/cross-roads are stopped to traffic - one direction is moving with cars giving way to any pedestrians crossing in the go direction.
Years of "nah but the light was green for me they shouldn't be crossing, I pay road tax, peds in the street all deserve to die, peds should wear hi vis..." have forced the law into making it more black/white green/red for drivers. Can't remember the last time I came to an unmarked junction, even the roundabouts are getting traffic lights...
