Oh god, Prometheus was so poor: plot like swiss cheese; crudely drawn characters that behaved completely inconsistently depending on the needs of said ropey plot; a piss-poor religious "subtext" that was offensive to pretty much any thinking person, religious or not. It belongs in the same pit of shame as Alien Resurrection.

I will give it that it looked fucking amazing in IMAX 3D. And a thing exploded at one point. I liked that bit. Otherwise: boooo.

This is how I initially felt but have softened my views after a rewatch. However, I agree that no matter what they do with the franchise, there will only EVER be The Trilogy, everything else is just a footnote.

Incidentally, I hope more people have re-appraised Alien 3, it's brilliant.
