Gatwick yesterday afternoon,ha.... Three pints in, flight delayed by 30 mins.. From cafe rogue we can see our plane at gate 18.. We stroll down with 10 minutes remaining no point queuing for longer.. We board and once the cokes and crisps are bought.. Out comes the Jack Daniels, this is becoming a ritual now. The flight is without incident and landing on a runway which sticks out into the sea fjord, surrounded by wooded hills and a glorious sunset or was it sunrise at midnight. The night air is fresh but not cold.. We look north somewhere close is the arctic circle.. And we are arctic monkeys.. We find the airbus.. And thankful that we've saved £60 avoiding taxi.. Then a short walk to our hotel, and out again in search of minibanks (ATM) food and beer.. But at 2am everywhere is closing.. So it's kebab supper with a few rowdy locals..
My bike is now rebuilt, ready for test ride to the war cemetery on the outskirts of town.. We visited Peter Keast last year, he was one of 21 British Marines killed in action in 1944.. Fighting along side Norwegian troops. Allies captured and liberated this ancient city of Trondheim from the Nazis.. Heroic stuff and the kind of story we need before embarking on our adventure.
