doesn't quite cut it.
i like velo orange, but not for a Gios
maybe something steel?
I might be missing something but "classically styled" and "threadless" seem mutually exclusive.
Thomspon maybe?

Forgive me for what is probably a really stupid question. But, I want to sort out some paint chips for this frame.
If I buy this:
And mix it with some white, am I likely to get close to what I'm after?

that would make it a lighter blue. if you want purple you'd use red and blue (mostly blue).

you're missing my initial post on this page where i acknowledged that
this Deda would be ideal.

Try:

Tick all the 'brand' boxes and click on 'show paint charts'I've ridden to my local* model shop in the past - the railway enthusiast that runs it was very helpful, bringing tins out into daylight for comparison with the frame.

So I get red and blue and I should be able to mix it up? Do I need some black too in case I need to darken it up?

Legend. I went to hobbycraft in Greenford and they were useless.

some advice, not asked for, but given nonetheless.
ignore drivers on phones. i understand where you're coming from, i fucking hate it, drives me mad, so dangerous. but there's no positive outcome from that. if anything, you're more likely to have an accident through being distracted. Is it illegal in anyway to use a handheld camera while cycling?
I'm considering cycling with a camera on a wrist strap for quick snaps of drivers on phones and then starting a tumblr or something to upload them all. Obviously I want to be covered enough when pissy motorists kick back.

On the other hand, if you want a series of dull, blurry photos which no-one will ever look at, where the process of taking them is more likely to cause an accident than the thing you're photographing, then fill your boots.

Also, if you really think the plod will do anything, just spend an hour with a video camera by the side of any commuter arterial road and you'll get 100 clear sequences of driver face, handset pressed to lughole and number plate.

I'd be more likely to recommend wheeling it in to a car spares place and grubbing through their paint sticks for a good match. I've done that with a few bikes and it's turned up a good match, fucking pricey is Halfords though so I may or may not have switched them into a container marked for the cheapest primer stick that the check-out assistant didn't check.
ahem.

is it possible some frames have a limit to the amount of seatpost you can put into the seattube ? a frame i have will only allow the seatpost to go in about 10cm
seatpost is definately the right size and fits perfectly for those first 10cm, it is a new long seatpost but won't go right downi know cutting is obvious but i prefer to have more than less seatpost in the frame when possible just to ensure integrity of all bits concerned

I had this issue with a new steel frame and needed to get the seat tube reamed. It'd go in fine for a bit then stop dead.

What is appropriate retirement gift for my mum?
Was going to do the boring wine and flowers but she's off on holiday for a few weeks on Sunday so a bit pointless and well, just wine isn't great.
For everything else, there's cluelessness...

it's actually a carbon fibre frame i don't think the tube internals are the issue .... or i hope they aren't

^^ What does she like? Or do you mean that you're clueless about what she likes?
-
• #61420
eh, she likes art/painting, but also has an intimidating volume of books and assorted tat acquired over a lifetime in that direction and I don't like buying more of it just for the sake of it... i just don't really know what expected for retirement gifts? Jewels, gold, fine silks?

in my experience Mothers like to spend time with their offspring. How about taking her to a gallery and lunch/dinner? let her work take care of buying her a gold watch.

Kitchen stuff is always a safe bet with my mum. Knifes, chopping boards, a nice pan, a nice garlic press, etc.
-
• #61423
I just remembered this. Its a book that contains loads of questions about her life and stuff. Places to attach photos, do little sketches, etc. I bought it for my mum for Xmas she loves filling it in and reminiscing!

• #61424
Thanks peoples. For some reason it just seems expected to buy a kind of object.
Aye... will maybe take her out tomorrow then.

^^If you do get her a garlic press, look no further than the excellent Zyliss Susi 3. Easy clean matte finish, no need to peel the cloves pre-pressing, and a handy integrated cleaning tool. I balked at first when I was bought it as a gift, but it's fucking brilliant.

We had to do this at a previous office. We named the culprit the "Phantom".
